How Effective is TMS?

NeuroStar Advanced Therapy TMS is an FDA-cleared treatment that is a safe and proven therapy for treating depression. More than 4 million TMS treatments have been performed on over 115,000 patients and the depression treatment has the world's largest “Outcome Registry” in depression. The results of this therapy have been published in 28 publications and the effectiveness of TMS therapy has been demonstrated in more than 65 clinical studies.

In real-world outcomes, 83% of TMS patients showed significant improvement in their depression symptoms, and 62% had lasting symptom relief.

Since TMS is not a drug it does not have the side effects that are associated with antidepressants. This alone can be a significant life quality improvement.

The most commonly reported side effect with TMS is transient mild to moderate scalp pain or discomfort which usually subsides with the first week of treatment.

NeuroStar Advanced Therapy is the only TMS treatment for depression that has demonstrated longevity through one year. Clinical studies have shown that only 5% of patients discontinued TMS therapy.

TMS treatment for depression is only available by prescription. It is for patients who have not had satisfactory improvement from prior antidepressant medication for treatment of Major Depressive Disorder in adult patients.
